The region is famous for religious paintings depicting the many feats of the baby and adolescent Krishna, and the raas-lila. Braj is the birthplace of Krishna and stories of his life are set in different locations in the region. 

Braj is a living culture, with time-held traditions such as Saanjhi paintings, flower bungalows for deities in temples, Charkula dance, and much more. These are depicted in the paintings.
